Brisbane Day 2
Posted on March 10, 2014
After the excitement of Day 1 and feeling refreshed after a good night’s sleep, I checked-out of my hotel and took Scott K’s advice and headed to the jetty at North Quay in order to travel to Kangaroo Point by ferry.
A change of ferry at Eagle Street jetty and I was on my way…
.. across to the Holman jetty and Captain Bourke park… the venue for this year’s type-in (-out).
Forty-five minutes or so later the type-in was in full swing…
The photos above and below courtesy of Scott K. You can see his excellent blog post about the type-in here).
Robert Messenger was kind enough to distribute copies of his book and sign them for us…
I did take some photos of my own …

Being a newbie, I succeeded in winning the wooden spoon (not one of Mr Bowker’s fine spoons unfortunately) in the speed typing competition.
Undaunted, there were plenty of nice typewriters I enjoyed clumsily two-finger typing on …
Hermes 3000 nice!
Hermes 2000 nice!
I didn’t feel worthy enough to touch this one!
I especially coveted these three…
What more could you ask for, great people, great typewriters and great fun!
Oh and a big thank you to Steve Snow for cooking me an omelette and taking me to the airport!
